“America's Dumbest Soldiers”

This was once the controversial website of Gottfrid Svartholm, Swedish co-founder of filesharing website The Pirate Bay.[info]

Created in 2004, America's Dumbest Soldiers listed US soldiers killed in the 2003 Iraq War, and asked visitors to rate how "dumb" the soldiers' deaths were.

After being featured in local and international news headlines, the website was met with fierce criticism; many of the initial discussion threads from 2004–2005 condemning the website are still visible in Google. Predictably, the site was suspended by its hosting provider. By October 2005, the website had been abandoned.

The website itself is now a relic of the past. No hateful content is hosted here. As far as we know, there is no archived copy of the website in its original form, nor even screenshots. (Considering the nature of the original website, this fact is a welcome one to most.)
